MIMA


MIMA is one of the UK's leading art galleries, based in Middlesbrough. The gallery exhibits, commissions and collects world-class modern and contemporary art and craft from 1900 to the present, and is a centre of excellence for drawing, contemporary jewellery and ceramics.

MIMA hosts a changing programme of exhibitions, featuring work by internationally acclaimed artists. The gallery brings together the town's art collections for the first time, with selected works from the collection showcased annually. Alongside this, is rolling programme of events and activities; most are free.

Activities include family events, lectures, artist talks, tours, guides, films, performances, opportunities to meet and work with artists, music and poetry events. MIMA is a partner in Plus Tate, a major national collaborative arts initiative for the visual arts involving Tate and 18 of the UK's most dynamic arts institutions. MIMA is part of Middlesbrough Council and is funded by Middlesbrough Council and Arts Council England.
